Laura Linney, best known for portraying strong, but vulnerable characters, is one of the most celebrated American actors of our times. Her father was a celebrated playwright, but Linney was raised as a single child by a single mom who was a nurse. During the summers and with her father Linney was able to develop a passion for the theatre. She eventually studied acting first in Brown University then at Juilliard School. Following her graduation from Brown University in the year 2000, she made her Broadway debut soon afterward. After two years of that, her first film came out and the next year she made her television debut. Her appearances have been in a variety of film, TV and stage productions since then. She has been nominated for three Tony Awards, three Academy Awards, five Awards, and four Primetime Emmy Awards (including two Golden Globe Awards), and received several awards during her professional career. She has been nominated for five Tony Awards and three Academy Award nominations. In spite of all the awards and accolades, the theater is her main interest and she will continue to perform on stage and screen.
